Herlinda R. Trevino, December 1, 1939 – June 26, 2024, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.  She was born in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Pedro Reyes, and Mary Louise Medellin.  She married Juan A. Trevino (Deceased).

Herlinda was a homemaker who earned her GED while raising her four children, John, Ruben, Robert, and Sylvia.

She wanted to serve her Lord, therefore, she became  a very active Member of the laity in the Episcopal Church. and provided services to the fellowship at the Santa Fe Episcopal Church. She served  in various capacities in many Church Committees.  In 1997 due to her demonstrated abilities, dedication,  and leadership, she was honored with the appointment as a Bishop’s Warden, for Santa Fe Episcopal Church; a position that she held for over twelve years.  After taking the appropriate training, she was certified as a Lay Pastoral Chaplain, and with the blessings of her Bishops, the Rt. Rev. James Folts and the Rt. Rev. Gary Lillibridge, she served as a Chaplain at the San Antonio State Hospital.

Linda was also a very active Cursillo leader, being the Rector of these Church Programs in Mexico and Honduras.  She was a delegate for the Episcopal Church Women’s Organization General Convention, and a Representative for the World Missions Area, for the Diocese of West Texas.

She was involved with the Red Hats organization and volunteered in various other programs.  On several occasions, she participated in pilgrimages to the holy land.  Herlinda’s favorite past times were playing bingo and “donating to a state’s economy,” the casino.

Herlinda was preceded in death by her husband, Juan A. Trevino, her son, Robert, and her brother, Arturo; also by her parents, Pedro Reyes and Mary Louise Medellin.

Survivors include her sister, Mary Lou Cruz and husband Ernest; son, Juan A. Trevino, Jr and wife Sandy; son, Ruben Trevino and wife Carol; daughter, Sylvia DeHoyos and husband, Jesse, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held July 2nd, 2024 at 10:30 am at Meadowlawn Funeral Home at 5611 E. Houston St., with a church service at 12:30 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church located at 1018 East Grayson St., San Antonio 78208. There will be light refreshments and snacks at the church beginning at 11:45 am

Burial will be held at 2:00 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
