Ingrid Maria Mathis received her wings on February 4, 2024, she made her grand entrance into the world on June 12, 1964, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to loving parents Doris Mathis Winkfield and Walter Dykes. She is the second youngest of 5 children. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Jacob’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She later moved her membership to Fort Bend Church.
During her remarkable journey, Ingrid accomplished a series of significant milestones. She commenced her path by graduating from Sam Houston High School, laying the foundation for future endeavors. Fueled by her unwavering passion for accounting. Ingrid embarked on a path that led her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Incarnate Word University. This educational accomplishment served as a gateway to a distinguished 37-year career with the Internal Revenue Service, where she demonstrated exceptional expertise.
Driven by a relentless pursuit for knowledge, Ingrid’s dedication propelled her to obtain her CPA designation. This accomplishment solidified her reputation as a skilled and knowledgeable professional within the realm of financial reporting and analysis. Undeterred by her achievement she continued to expand her horizon by an MBA from Prairie View A & M University, further augmenting her personal and professional acumen.
Not only was she a trailblazer in her career, but she was a fierce proponent of women’s rights. Her unwavering commitment and advocacy for gender equality has left a lasting impression on the lives of numerous individuals. Furthermore, Ingrid’s love of sports propelled her to attain certification as a NCAA Referee in Texas, igniting her passion for travel. As a result, she visited 45 of 50 of the United States, including numerous iconic destinations, as well as venturing to various international locations.
Ingrid’s humble demeanor shaped by her beloved grandmother, Gracie Mathis, influenced her character and was at the core of her commitment to empowering young girls. She passionately chaperoned the Girls Scouts of America, guiding and mentoring girls within her span of influence. Those girls will forever remember Ingrid’s impact and unwavering dedication as a testament to her remarkable character and compassionate spirit.
Ingrid is preceded in death by her mother Doris Mathis Winkfield, maternal grandparents Ross and Gracie Mathis, paternal grandparents Walter and Clarence Mae Dykes, and her niece Washanika Mathis.
Ingrid leaves to cherish her memory; her father Walter Dykes of San Antonio, Texas, two brothers Harold Mathis (wife Cynthia) of San Antonio, Texas; Therman Greenwood (wife Shannon) of Austin, Texas; two sisters Yolanda Perryman (husband Billy) of San Antonio, Texas; TaShun Greenwood (husband Ernest) of Converse, Texas, Aunts: Wilma Sanders (husband Eddie) of San Antonio, Tx , Shirley Brown of La Puente California, Ethel Dykes of San Antonio, TX , Iris Dykes of San Antonio Tx, Thelma Wilson (husband John) of San Antonio, Tx, Lois Allen of San Antonio, Tx; Special Friend George Reynolds and his grandchildren of Katy, Tx, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
