James Artha Baldwin was born on May 3, 1937, in Lott, Texas to Eddie and Sarah Baldwin. His parents and 13 siblings preceded him in death.
In 1956, he moved from Lott, Texas to San Antonio, Texas. On August 8, 1956, he was united in holy matrimony with Charlesetta Spencer and to this union, four children were born, Anita Rochelle Baldwin, Charlotte Marie Baldwin, James Artha Baldwin, Jr. and Gregory Keith Baldwin.
James Artha Baldwin was a successful business owner and dedicated worker who was employed by Roy Schweers of Gulf Oil for 21 years and Unisource trucking for 22 years. He retired on May 3, 1999 and was also the proud owner of Skinny's Place on the Eastside of San Antonio for more than 40 years. He enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing, and playing pool.
James will forever be remembered with love by his devoted wife of 59 years, Charlesetta Baldwin, beloved children Anita Rochelle Johnson, Charlotte Marie Fowler, James Artha Baldwin, Jr., Gregory Keith Baldwin, and Ronald, 13 treasured grandchildren Ralph Johnson, LaTorya Fowler, Jessica Fowler, Anthony Baldwin, Anitra Johnson, Precina Fowler, Taneka Baldwin, Latasha Baldwin, Le'Keshia Baldwin, Gregory Baldwin, Jr., Tryphosa Baldwin, James Monroe Fowler III, Eddie Baldwin, Kimberly Love, and Kevin McIntyre, caring son-in-law James Fowler, caring daughters-in law Angela and Pam, and 32 great-grandchildren. His loving presence will also be remembered by countless relatives and a tremendous amount of friends.
