James G. Holt December 15, 1948 ~ January 24, 2021 An angel whispered on the morning of January 24, 2021 “Take my hand and come with me; your work here is done.” Reverend James Holt was called home to be with the Lord. Born on December 15, 1948 to Willis & Rubie Lee Holt. Reverend James Holt attended school within the Fort Worth Independent School District. Upon graduation, Rev. Holt began a family, fathering four boys, James Holt Jr., Germaine Holt, Thyee Holt, and Sergio Holt. Rev. Holt joined the United States Marine Corp in 1969, where he honorably served his country until 1975. During his service, Rev. Holt earned several service medals, to include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, and the M-14 Rifle Marksman Shooting Badge. Rev. Holt joined in holy matrimony with his present wife of 36 years, Betty Holt. They blended their union, with the addition of Betty’s four children, Rodney Roberts, Christopher Roberts, Gina Hester (Roberts), and John Roberts. Rev. Holt enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Rev. Holt was known for his unrelenting work ethic and continuous encouragement to others. Rev. Holt had a very competitive behavior when it came to game time with family. It is not that he was cheating, it was that he just could not see! Upon giving his life to the Lord, Rev. Holt ministered to others, sharing the goodness of the Lord. Rev. Holt faithfully served pastor of True Gospel Baptist Church from 2002-2012. He eventually joined Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member from 2012 until the present. Rev. Holt was preceded in death by his parents Willis & Rubie Lee Holt, sisters: Rubie and Delilah, and brother: Bennie Holt. He leaves to cherish his memories, his beautiful wife of 36 years Betty Holt, three sisters, and one brother. Ruth Bridges (Tony), Arletha Franklin, William Carey, and Glen Holt (Janice); his children: James Holt Jr. (Carla), Germaine Holt (Connie), Thyee Holt, Sergio Holt (Shay), Rodney Roberts (Albertha), Christopher Roberts (Barbara), Gina Hester(Keith), and John Roberts. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and numerous relatives and friends. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 5:00-7:00PM at MeadowLawn Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 9:30AM, at Agape Christian Church, 14303 Judson Rd. San Antonio, Texas.
