Janell Vatie Haywood Mellieon passed away at home on May 10, 2023, at the age of 80. Janell was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Laura Ann Haywood, her brothers Leo Haywood, Talmadge Haywood, Cullen Haywood, and Bertrand Haywood along with two sisters Doris Haywood and Lois Haywood Benjamin.
Born October 10, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas, Janell was the youngest of seven children. She was married to Leo Mellieon and from this union two children were born. She was a lifelong member of Jacobs Chapel United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas and treasured every moment there. Janell was an LVN and worked in her field up until September of 2022 due to her illness making it impossible to continue.
Janell was passionate about reading, doing puzzles, playing games on her iPad as well as watching a good crime series. To say that she was a spirited person is an understatement. To know Janell was to know she wasn’t going to mince words when expressing her love. She will be greatly missed but is now at peace with her fellow angels in heaven.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted children, Laura Mellieon-Houston, Leo Paul Mellieon II (KaRhonda), her grandchildren Damien Mellieon, De’Avione Mellieon, Marcus Houston and McKenna Houston as well as a host of family, friends, and church members.
