Jeremiah Hicks, Sr., 91 left us on February 1, 2024, with his family by his side in San Antonio, Texas.
Jeremiah was born June 21, 1932, in Gonzalez, County to JB Hicks, Sr. and Lillie Robinson Hicks. To this union he was the oldest of five children. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended church at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in the Pleasant Grove Community. He received his formal education in Yoakum, Texas graduating from Asberry High School.
After high school he went into the Army in 1953 to serve his country. He served honorably for two years and was discharged and returned to the workforce. While in San Antonio he began to fellowship with the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
On March 27, 1976, he united in marriage to Vetta Pettit. He was employed for over 38 years with Merchant Fast Motor Lines Trucking Company.
He was proceeded in death by parents JB Hicks, Sr. and Lillie Robinson Hicks, his brother, Bennie Ray Hicks, his son Jeremiah Hicks, Jr. and his daughter, Sheila Hardeman.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Vetta Hicks, one daughter: Irene Michelle Hicks, three siblings: Jessie Mae Edwards, Ethel Lee Gardley (Thomas), JB Hicks, Jr., three sister in laws: Jo Nell Foley (Elroy), Gerlene Hardaway (Willie), Virginia Pettit, one brother in law: Charles Pettit, Sr. (Gerthie), three grandchildren: Ryan Lawson, Evan Hardeman, Sean Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

My condolences to the family. I will miss Mr Hicks. I had the pleasure of waiting on him at Beacons. I started working for him and his wife for almost four years. He was like a grandfather I never had. I will miss his laugh and compliments. He truly was a blessing to me.
