January 14, 1968 ~ September 17, 2014
We would like you to know that Jerry Anthony Contreras, our son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the age of just 46 years.
Jerry was born in Kittery, Maine, during a New England blizzard at the Navy Hospital on January 14, 1968. He graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School in May 1986 and began working with his friend Eddie refurbishing and painting cars.
Jerry never found his way into marriage or with children of his own, but I believe if he had, he would have matured into a wonderful father and husband.
In the late 80's early 90's, Jerry worked at Levi Strauss Jean Company on Hwy 90 in San Antonio driving the lifting machines that loaded the clothing into the washing and drying machines which made the clothing look old. He enjoyed carpentry, basketball, football, jogging, being with family and friends, riding around in his car, truck (whatever vehicle he had at the moment). With steady hands he was great at refurbishing cars, especially painting them. He made beautiful outdoor Adirondack lawn furniture (big boy chairs using 2x6's), lawn benches and tables, wooden wine racks, bird houses and box planters. He loved to walked or jog around Woodlawn Lake; anytime of the year. He loved to go fishing and travel to Georgia, Alabama and Florida to be with our mother's family. His collection of Mustang, farming, Cabela and Bass Pro magazines helped him dream and keep up with his interests. He received honorary appreciation certificates for his donations to his favorite organizations; the Olympics, Saving Whales and local animal shelters. He was ALWAYS ready to eat out and his favorite places were Red Lobster and Olive Garden. He was an eager man child that liked to help others and would never ask for anything in return. When he felt good, his time would just as well be yours, just for the asking.
Jerry is survived and was loved by his father, Gilbert Contreras, siblings; Vickie Contreras and Roland Contreras , his sister-in-law, Mary Contreras, nieces; Janelle Negrete and Shannon Contreras, his nephew, Justin Contreras, great grandniece, Abigail Negrete and his many aunts, uncles and cousins from the Freeman and Contreras families.
Thank you for being with us to share in Jerry's moment of glory when he received peace and happiness as he met our Lord Jesus Christ, his savior.

Jerry was born during a New England blizzard and he left us on a day, blessing San Antonio with intermittent steady flow of rain showers, which I now reflect as a gift from God for another one of his children coming home. Love to you all and \”God Bless\”, as Jerry would say. Sis :O)
