Gerald “Jerry” Edward Mainz passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on September 12, 1956, to Eleanor and Henry Mainz, Jerry was raised with a strong faith, a deep love for family, and the values that would guide him throughout his life.

Jerry’s greatest blessing began with Karen Brehm, the girl he had known since childhood through Highland Social Club. Their lifelong friendship grew into a beautiful love story, and they were married on July 19, 1980. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and creating cherished memories. Their home was always open, becoming the gathering place for holidays, cookouts, fish fries, celebrations, and countless moments filled with laughter and love.

A hardworking and dependable man, Jerry was known for his ability to fix just about anything and his willingness to help anyone in need. He dedicated 33 years of service to AT&T and also spent many years operating Jerry’s Mechanical, his sideline business. Retirement never truly slowed him down. Whether volunteering at church, supporting the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, cooking for family and friends, or working on his next project, Jerry always found purpose in staying active and serving others.

The outdoors was where Jerry felt most at home. Hunting and fishing were far more than hobbies; they were lifelong passions that brought him joy, peace, and treasured time with family and friends. From dove season and deer camp to fishing trips and gatherings around a campfire, Jerry created memories that will live on in the stories shared by those who loved him. Wherever he went, he brought laughter, wisdom, and a spirit that made every moment unforgettable.

To so many, Jerry was simply “Uncle Jerry.” Family relation was never a requirement; if he cared about you, you were family. He had a way of making people feel at home, welcomed, and loved, whether through a shared story, a hearty laugh, or a helping hand. His infectious personality will leave an imprint on generations of people fortunate enough to know him.

Above all else, Jerry was a devoted husband, father and proud Papa. His daughters, Jenna and Lisa, were the pride and joy of his life. Jerry’s life grew richer with Jenna’s marriage to Eric Ruhd and Lisa’s marriage to Austin Kramr. The arrival of his grandchildren, Luke, Piper, Ollie, Owen, and Olsen brought on a whole new chapter of happiness. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with them, encourage them, celebrate their accomplishments, and simply enjoy being together.

In June 2025, Jerry was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Throughout his battle, he faced each day with courage, determination, and unwavering faith. Even through life’s greatest hardships, including the loss of his beloved Karen, Jerry remained strong, positive, and an inspiration to everyone around him.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, sons-in-law, and cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Bernice Jarzombek, William “Billy” (Mary) Mainz, Charlene Mainz, and James “Tub” (Barbara) Mainz, along with their families. He leaves behind his in-laws, Larry and Debbie Brehm, Gene and Vicki Brehm, Kenny Waneck, and many treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is also survived by his irreplaceable Aunt Clarice.

Jerry will be remembered as a man who lived fully, loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and never met a stranger. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the traditions he created, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless people whose lives were made better because they knew him.

Though he will be greatly missed, his love, laughter, and spirit will remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with Karen and held in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior.
