Jessie Robinson was born in Brenhan, Texas on Feb.5th, 1920 to the late Seth Robinson Sr. and the late Nellie Chappell Robinson. His brother, Seth Robinson Jr. and his sister, Richard Dell Robinson preceded him in death. He received his education from Old Gay Hill School in Brenham, Texas. Jessie enlisted in the US Army in 1942, serving four years. After being honorably discharged, Jessie returned to Brenham and married the apple of his eye, Pearlie Harris. They married on June 14, th, 1946 and they had two children: Jeffery Robinson and Bobbie Jean Scruggs. Jessie and Pearlie moved to San Antonio to make a life for themselves. He worked as a cook at the Crockett Hotel. He also attended art school where he learned to draw beautifully. He also had an opportunity to work in Civil Service at Brooks Air Force Base. Jessie had an extraordinary talent with working with his hands. He worked for more than 25 years as a gunsmith at Dale Wise Custom Guns of San Antonio. Jessie was a quiet but fascinating man. He was a loyal and faithful husband, a great father and grandfather. He had a love and passion for children and animals. Although not affiliated with a church, Jessie knew and believed in the Lord. He called upon the Lord in his last days, and his voice was heard. On Monday night, April 16th, 2007, the death angel came and took Jessie home to be with the Lord. Jessie is survived by his loving daughter, Bobbie Jean Scruggs, a faithful son in law, Tommy Lee Scruggs Sr., grandson Jamar Donte Hood, granddaughter, Felicia Tanae Scruggs, both of San Antonio. A granddaughter Bianca Marie Edmondson of Killeen, Texas, a grandson, Tommy Scruggs Jr., Japan, a great granddaughter Tania Marie Edmondson, niece, Tressa Rose Maxie of Brenham, Texas, great nieces, Angela 'Ann' Maxie-Mable, Janet Candy Maxie Reed, both of Brenham, Texas., a great niece, Latresa Maxie of Columbia, South Carolina, great nephews, Leroy Maxie Jr. and Christopher Maxie, Brenham, Texas and other relatives and friends.
