Born in: Lima, Peru
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Jose Miguel Tolentino, 73, passed away June 26, 2024 at his home in the presence of his loving family in San Antonio, Texas. He was born March 19, 1951 in Lima, Peru to Miguel Tolentino and Julia Teodomiro Ortega Navarro. Jose grew up in Peru where he met the love of his life, Victoria Villanueva, when they were children. As a young man, Jose pursued a career as a soccer athlete with a semi-pro team in the city of Callao but, due to a knee injury, he was forced to give up his dream. Ever the ardent soccer fan, he enjoyed watching the game until his last days. Upon moving to the United States with his family, Jose found his biggest passion when he joined the US Army and served as an Aviation Mechanic on several helicopters, including the “Apache,” the “Black Hawk,” and several other aircraft. Retiring as a Sergeant First Class, there was only one thing he loved more than Army Aviation, and that was his family. Family always came first, and Jose instilled his love of family and his strong work ethic into his three sons and grandson. A man of few words, Jose was a very reserved man who communicated his love of others with kind gestures and gifts. His legacy will be carried on through his wife and children who will miss him dearly.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 53 years, Victoria Tolentino; his children, Jose “Joe” Tolentino Jr. m. to Candace, Cristian Tolentino m. to Aubrey, and Alan Tolentino m. to Katrina; and his grandchild, Gabriel Tolentino.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Night Stalker Foundation Scholarship Fund in memory of SFC Jose M. Tolentino (Ret.).
