Joseph Armstrong Jr.

Joseph “Joe” Armstrong, Jr.— affectionately known as “Lil Joe” to his family and close friends-was born on May 29, 1962, to Joseph Armstrong, Sr. and Georgetta Armstrong. A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, Joe was a proud fan of the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys, cheering on his teams with unwavering loyalty. He was also a devoted member of Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church, where his faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.

Educated in the San Antonio Independent School District, Joe would later discover his calling as a gifted landscaper. With both vision and hard work, he turned green spaces into living works of art. His deep connection to the outdoors extended beyond his professionhe found joy in fishing, boating, and the simple peace of being near the water. Whether casting a line at dawn or cruising across the lake, nature was where his spirit thrived.

Joe’s love of music was woven into his everyday life. He often sang or strummed his guitar, filing the air with soul and melody.

And anyone who knew Joe knew his legendary skills at the grill his barbeque was a staple at backyard gatherings filled with laughter, love, and his signature tunes. He lived each day with warmth, purpose, and joy.

Joe will be remembered for his generous heart, easy smile, musical soul, and the way he made everyone feel like family.

On June 11, 2025, Joe peacefully transitioned at the age of 63.

He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Joseph Sr. and Georgetta Armstrong; his children, Victoria Miles (Lawrence), Trinette Armstrong, Mercedes Armstrong, Sabrina Armstrong (all of San Antonio), Cherisha Armstrong (Ruston, LA), and Chazz Armstrong (Cuero,

TX): sixteen grandchildren and one

great-grandson. He is also survived by his siblings— Cynthia Jones (Conyers, GA), Renee Scott, Garry Armstrong (Sharon), and Michael Armstrong, Sr. (all of San Antonio)-along with two special people in his life, Janell Armstrong and Lisa Armstrong. A host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and lifelong friends will continue to honor his memory.
