Joseph M. White, born July 19,1928 in Spiro, Oklahoma, to Curtis White and Nellie Rucker White, died March 17, 2020 at age 91. After high school he enlisted in the Marines during World War II. Joe loved music and sang in college/church choirs for over 50 years. He played 1st chair trumpet through high school and college. He graduated in 1951 from Southeastern State with a BA degree in music. He was band president,trumpet soloist, a member of the brass sextet, a capella choir, Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, Hell Hounds and other music circles. He received numerous awards during his 35 year career with the Department of Defense beginning at Camp Chaffee, AR and ending in AFCOM HQS, SAALC. Joe was married 70 years to his high school sweetheart, Margaret Adamson White. He was ordained a Baptist deacon in 1957 and was a member of Parkhills Baptist Church. Joe loved snow/water skiing, swimming, boating, hiking and traveling in his RV with family & friends. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter Susan Carter and granddaughter, Courtney Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Hazel Parker White, brother and two sisters. Future burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Christian School at Castle Hills or Parkhills Baptist Church. Deepest appreciation to Dr. Alan Merin and nurse Anna Garcia, Methodist Specialty/Transplant Hospital nurses and Vitas Hospice nurses.
