Josephine H. Smith

Josephine H. Smith passed away peacefully on October 21, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to the parentage of Johnnie Hice, Jr. and Frankie Mae Freeman Hice. She was the youngest girl of nine children. Josephine attended the San Antonio Independent Schools graduating from Phillis Wheatley High School and later attended St. Phillips College. She enjoyed cooking and reading and worked as a bank teller. Her husband, Arthur Freeman; daughter, Josephine Lorraine Freeman; son, Marcus Freeman; parents, Johnnie Hice Jr. and Frankie Mae Freeman Hice; brothers. Johnnie W. Hice, and Willie Hice and her sisters, Flossie Hice and Billie Jean Bennett all proceeded her in death. Josephine is survived by her siblings; Gilbert L. Hice (Zelma), Frankie M. Brown, Charles A. Hice (Jeanne) and Leroy Hice (Theresa) along with her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.
