Born in: Seguin , Texas
Resided in: San Antonio , Texas

Josephine R. Leal, born on February 15, 1930, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the age of 94 years.

Mrs. Leal was preceded in death by her husband Adam M. Leal, Sr., and her sons Adam R. Leal, Jr.(married to Hermelinda), and Bernardo R. Leal (married to Leticia).  She is survived by her children, Herminia Puente (and husband Rafael), Pilar R. Leal, Eduardo R. Leal, Olivia Garcia (and husband Eliseo), and Adrian R. Leal (and wife Marina), brother Ramon Robles, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Josephine is also survived by her precious doggie Shelby, also affectionally known as Chubby.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her and will be in our hearts forever.

Josephine loved music and dancing and thoroughly enjoyed the Saturdays and Sundays she spent at the Centeno Event Center dancing to her treasured norteno and Tejano music, along with always being ready to attend any party or fiesta.  She loved the Robles family reunions held in Marlin, Texas, where she was always watched over and cared for by her niece Gloria Garcia.  In her later years, Josephine so enjoyed traveling, including road trips, casino trips, and cruises when she would always say she did not want to get off the ship.  Everyone will always remember that her favorite movie was The Titanic, which she saw over and over and she knew all the lines by heart.

The family wishes to express sincere thanks and gratitude to Guiding Light Hospice Care and to all of her caregivers throughout her last journey in life, in particular Nurse Mabel, Nurse Sammi, CNA Mary Helen, Chaplain Bobby, and the many other caregivers that attended to her and visited her faithfully. A special thank you is extended to Josephine’s granddaughter Destiny, who was of immense assistance in attending to her healthcare.

    • CandleImageMario and Patty, even though Rafael and I don’t see you as often as before because we are/were dealing with similar family issues, we think of you often. Thank you for reaching out at this time and for remembering Mom. Love, Minnie

  5. CandleImageSomething that not everyone knows is that Mom loved to vote, and not just for the major elections. We would be at the voting booth for even the local elections many many times. Usually, it was early voting so that she would not have to stand in line too long. Afterwards, it was breakfast and coffee at a taqueria and she would proudly wear her “I Voted” sticker for the rest of the day. She always wanted two stickers, one to place on her dress and one to place on the outside of her purse. Mom was definitely one of a kind. Like my brother Pilar says: Mom was Mom!

  6. CandleImageI will always remember spending the weekends at Grandma’s house. Ill remember waking up to Grandpa sitting in his spot at the kitchen table, listening to music and reading the newspaper and Grandma at the stove! She made the best pancake burritos! She had a fruit sugar bowl on the kitchen table, she’d let us add as much sugar in our post toasties as we wanted and we would do just that, to the point that we would scrape the bottom of the bowl to get it all!! She had a kiddie pool in the backyard for us, once we were done playing in the pool Grandma would give us the shampoo and soap to bathe in the pool. She was always ready to feed us whenever we went by to visit, she always had beans bacon and tortillas on the stove, no matter the time of day! Thank you for making me feel welcomed in your home!! So many wonderful memories at Grandma Fina’s house growing up. I know you are with Grandpa now..and i hope yall are dancing in the sky!!

  7. CandleImageI know we had our differences and had our disagreements, but you will ALWAYS be my MOM. We didn’t always see eye to eye but you will ALWAYS be my MOM. You were strong and feisty till the end and never complained about being in pain even though you were..STRONG TO THE VERY END. You will be greatly missed by all of us.
    I LOVE YOU!!! ❤️

    • CandleImageEileen, thank you for visiting mom during her last days. Your Nurse tips were greatly appreciated and so is your friendship. Minnie Puente
