"JR" Canuto Jimenez Jr.

Canuto “JR” Jimenez, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the age of 69. He was born on July 1, 1955, in San Antonio, TX, to Antonia and Canuto Jimenez, Sr.

JR was a hardworking man who spent many years as a truck driver. He was always on the move, whether it was tending to his yard, fixing something around the house, or finding a new project to keep himself busy. Sitting still just wasn’t in his nature.

He had a sharp sense of humor and never passed up the chance to crack a joke. If you were around him, you were going to laugh. He also had a serious love for Diet Coke and was rarely seen without one.

Above all, JR loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Evangeline “Grandma Vangie” Jimenez, and together they shared decades of marriage. They were known for their playful bickering, always giving each other a hard time but never letting anyone doubt how much they loved each other. Their bond was strong to the very end.

JR’s greatest pride and deepest love were for his children, Richard and Nancy, and his grandchildren. They were his whole world. He worked tirelessly to give them a good life, never hesitating to make sacrifices so they could have more than he did. His love for them wasn’t just spoken—it was shown in a million little ways, from the lessons he taught to the unwavering support he gave, no matter what. To Richard, he was a guiding hand, always ready to share advice or lend his strength. To Nancy, he was her protector, her rock, the man who loved her unconditionally. And his grandkids—Richard II, Cyann, Draylen, Zaiden, and great-granddaughter Alaina, were the light of his life. He never missed a chance to make them laugh, share a story, or remind them just how proud he was of them.

Even in his final days, his biggest concern was making sure his family was okay. He worried about Richard and Nancy, hoping they would always take care of each other, and he made sure his grandkids knew how much he loved them. But more than anything, he wanted to make sure Grandma Vangie would be okay. After decades together, he couldn’t stand the thought of leaving her, but he knew she was strong. His last gift to his family was the love and strength he had always given, trusting that they would carry it forward.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Daniel Jimenez. JR leaves behind his wife, Evangeline Jimenez, his son Richard Jimenez (Diana), his daughter Nancy Jimenez, his grandchildren Richard Jimenez II (Lorinda), Cyann Panter (Shawn), Draylen Jimenez, and Zaiden Jimenez, and his great-granddaughter Alaina Jimenez. He is also survived by his four brothers, five sisters, and many other loving relatives and friends.

JR was one of a kind. His humor, his hard work, and the love he gave so freely will never be forgotten. Though he is gone, the memories he made and the love he shared will live on forever.
