Our beloved sister, aunt, educator, and friend, Juanita Gonzalez, passed away on January 8, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to parents Justo and Severa Gonzalez and raised in various places while her father served in the military. Juanita never married or had any children of her own, but her passion for her nieces and nephews filled her heart as such, along with her passion to teach. Juanita taught in various states and schools. She was an ESL and Language Arts Bilingual teacher. She was loved by staff and students for her dedication and professionalism. Juanita loved and cared for her students, and often spent long hours after school tutoring them, and meeting with parents. She also taught ESL night school to immigrant adults and children. Juanita was a model teacher who mentored teachers and advocated for educational excellence. While Juanita wasn't teaching, she loved traveling and spending quality time with family and friends. She sure loved a good casino and was a lifelong, passionate Spurs fan "Go SPURS Go!" Juanita will forever be in our hearts and always be remembered for her loving and generous spirit. 4. Juanita was a gift from God to everyone who knew her. She was gifted with wisdom, love, good humor and great knowledge of God. I am grateful to have known her and so grateful that she was always willing to share her gifts with the rest of us. She could always hold a group’s attention with her teaching ability and her humor. She would always make us laugh. Many of us remember her great teachings about the Lord. Her great love for Him would flow out of her heart and we could feel that authentic relationship that she had with Him. Although she will be greatly missed here on earth, we know that she is finally home with her one true love. She has run her race and she has won her crown! May God bless her always. We will always love her!💕Juanita please pray for us and we will continue to pray with you, and for you.

  6. What a beautiful life and the most amazing, lovely woman who always cared more for others than herself. She was the model of a selfless servant to God, her family, her students and all those she touched. I’ve never known a more selfless woman. She loved her family deeply, experienced and loved life. Our dear Juanita is irreplaceable. God rest her beautiful soul.

  7. My condolences to the family. Although it had been many years since we had spoken, I have fond memories of Juanita as she was a family friend. She liked the French braids I made so she’d pay me to make them on her beautiful thick hair. She was good friends with my mother and they’d talk for hours… God bless your family during this time. Juanita was a very special lady 🙏

  8. Juanita, I didn’t know you as long as some of your friends, but when we met, I knew you were someone special. You treated me like we had known each other for ages. When you hugged me, I could feel God’s love pouring out. I am truly blessed in having known you. Enjoy heaven and please pray for me and my husband. Until we meet again. Cathy Shafer

  9. I know the Lord was waiting for you with open arms into his kingdom. I will always remember your love for Jesus and your kind happy heart we all enjoyed. I love you. Jenny

  10. To me Juanita is a saint. You can start invoking her intercession to find you a parking space and go from There. She taught me her childlike trust that God the father would answer her prayer. I will miss her as we all will but I know we have an intercessor in heaven, and I would urge you to begin invoking Juanita’s intercession.

  11. My Dearest Sister Juanita, May you Rest in Peace in Heaven as a Child of Our Lord and Savior. Your Loving Brother Gus and Family

  18. My most sincere condolences to Juanita’s family. She was a dear friend, and will always hold a special place in my heart. I like what Father George Montague said: That we can invoke Juanita’s intercession. Juanita, please send us blessings! You always knew best how to pray for us while you were with us, and will continue as you can now see Our Father, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and all the Angels and Saints face to face.
I Love you, and Miss you!

  19. Juanita, you were less a cousin and more a sister to my family and I. You will be missed dearly but I know you will be with us always in spirit.

  21. Juanita, you are a beautiful soul. You were so kind to appoint yourself as my human cane at our last reunion when I was having difficulty walking. That’s just who you are. My memories of you are precious. Until we meet again, my sweet Providence High School sister. Ruth Carpenter Flores

  22. My dearest, dearest Juanita, Forgive the tardiness of my post. But how in the world do I even think of saying goodbye to you??? I can’t imagine a world without you in it. Where do I begin??? I was 16 when the Lord brought you into my life. He knew how much I world need your faith, your wisdom, and your love in my world. We were there for each other for the worst and the best life had to give us. We shared so many laughs, tears and smiles! And in my absolute darkest days, weeks, months, you were the ONLY person there for me, you were the only light in my dark, dark world. You are the only reason I survived the lowest, worst time of my life. You have been there for me for 40 years. How do I say goodbye? Who do I talk to now? I guess it’s time to look back on the lessons you taught me. You always used to tell me, “Michele, no matter what, God is still God!!!” I didn’t want to hear it. 27 years later, I finally understand your wisdom. So many lessons to learn from your unwaivering faith!! You taught me to be faithful, even when it felt there was nothing to be faithful to. You taught me to trust God, when when it felt there was nothing to trust in. You taught me to hug, and I taught my family to hug, your love will live on for generations in my family! You taught me to be still and know that God is God. You taught me to praise the Lord in good and in bad. I will always hear your voice in my head, I will always feel your presence in my life, I will always be strengthened by your faith, I will always feel your love in my heart, and I will always rely on your intercession for me before our merciful God, in whose presence I know you are. I will never know how to say good bye to my oldest, dearest friend. We had so many things to yet share. I will always miss you until we are united in the eternal life of our God!! All of these words are just not enough..I love you my friend! Pray for me! To my dearest Estella, Annie, Robbie, Ellie, Aaron, and all your family, I understand the devastation you feel… you are my family! I have been praying for you for 40 years, and I will continue to do so for the remainder of my life! I pray that our merciful God fill your emptiness, console your hearts, soothe your grief, and strengthen your spirits. I love you….
