Ms. Mitchell moved to Houston, Texas as a youth, and she married Ben Mitchell, Jr. (deceased) on June 9, 1957, and had 5 children: Shane Mitchell (Daisy), Kathryn Mitchell-Murphy (Dave), Cody Mitchell (Desiree), Anjeanette Mitchell (deceased) and Chad Mitchell (Oanh). Ms. Mitchell was creative; she loved to craft, paint, and quilt. She enjoyed writing, especially poetry. She was patriotic, spiritual, resourceful, and fun-loving, and is often remembered for her practical jokes. Her one great teaching was: “Don’t let a bad situation define who you are.” Ms. Mitchell was a Daughter of the Republic of Texas through her father’s side, as a descendant of James Bonham. She was loved by many, and remembered by her nieces and nephews as a second mother to them. May her insightful teachings, and her spirit of giving and forgiving live on through her descendants.
