Mr. Julius R. Hicks was born to the late Charlie Hicks and Serleaner Parker on May 25, 1930. He attended Elementary School in Dilworth, Texas and graduated from Edwards High School in Gonzales, Texas.

Julius joined the church at an early age and sang as a member of the Family Quartet Group. After moving to San Antonio, he joined New Light Baptist Church, where he served as President and Treasurer of the Usher Board.

 Julius joined the Army in 1951. He married the late Doris Green on Oct. 4th, 1952. Together they had one daughter, Kathy Jean Hicks-Lawson. Upon completion of his term with the U.S. Army, he continued to work at Randolph AFB and Brooks Army Base. He went on to work at Lackland AFB as an Aircraft Mechanic and retired as a GS-14.

 Julius is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Green; daughter, Kathy Jean Hicks-Lawson; mother, Serleaner Hicks; father, Charlie Hicks; sister, Annie J. Harper; sister, Deloris Harper; brother, Melvin Hicks; sister, Verleaner Hicks; sister, Leaner Clark and brother, J.B. Hicks.

He leaves to cherish his memory, son-in-law, James Lawson; nephew, Ray Lee Wilson Sr.; nieces, Luvenia (Neal) Ricks, Patricia Cruse, Doris Johnson, Bessie Lee, Leona Clark, Merdie Clark, and a host of great- nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
