October 5, 1942 ~ April 26, 2026

Born in: Corpus Christi, Texas
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Karen Elaine Harless, 83, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Karen was a deeply loving and caring woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished every moment spent with them—whether cooking delicious meals, gathering around the table, or sharing laughter while playing Yahtzee together. Her home was always filled with warmth, kindness, and the comforting feeling of being cared for.

She found peace and happiness in the simple beauty of the outdoors. Karen loved watching her birds and took special delight in the cardinals that faithfully came to visit her. She also devoted much love and attention to her pets, who were an important part of her life.

In 1968, Karen was honored as “Miss Sears of San Antonio” during the HemisFair World’s Fair. Representing her city, she earned this title with grace and charm, and was given the unique opportunity to tour HemisFair before it opened to the public—an experience she treasured.

Karen also enjoyed traveling with her sisters, especially their trips to the casinos in Louisiana, which brought her much joy and laughter. When she wasn’t traveling, she could often be found relaxing with her tablet, enjoying her favorite online games.

Karen Elaine will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her loving heart, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Eugene H. Ross; parents, Mary Ellen and Adair Travis Harless; sister, Sandra Williams; brothers, Travis Harless and Sherman R. Harless.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, her son Gene P. Ross (spouse Christy); her daughter, Stephanie Garcia (spouse Rolando); grandchildren, Nathan Herrera and Jules Herrera; sisters, Patricia R. Harless and Mary H. Griffin (spouse John) and numerous nieces and nephews.
