Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Katherine Lydia Trujillo, 76, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, surrounded by
her loving family. She was born to Lydia and Henry Trujillo on September 13, 1949,
in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Family was at the center of Kathy's world. She poured love into gatherings,
holidays, and everyday moments, celebrating milestones and offering steadfast
support. She had a remarkable way of making traditions feel extra special and
ordinary days feel meaningful. She was generous, wise, and compassionate. She was a
strong leader, and she laughed easily. Her love was unconditional. Family and
friends were everything to her.

Kathy grew up in Corpus Christi, where she was a brilliant student who went on to
help and influence countless others throughout her life. She started college at age
16 and began teaching at Driscoll Junior High School at age 20. She was a devoted
teacher who sincerely cared about her students. She started a math club at Driscoll,
where she nurtured a love of learning in her students and sponsored trips out of
state to participate in national competitions. Inspired by her example, some of her
students became educators themselves. After many years in the classroom, she became
the Secondary Education Math Consultant for the Corpus Christi Independent School
District, where she excelled as a grant writer. After retiring from CCISD, she
became an adjunct professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, teaching
education majors how to teach.

Kathy's legacy lives on in the numerous people she nurtured, the values she modeled,
and the countless small acts of care that stitched together a beautiful life. She
will be remembered for her deep faith, her humility, and her unwavering belief in
the goodness of others.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lydia and Henry; brother-in-law,
Alberto Garcia Jr., and sister-in-law, Rose Trujillo. She leaves behind to carry her
memory with love and gratitude her sisters and brothers, Oscarine Garcia, Ophelia
McBride, John Trujillo, Elizabeth Kennedy (Dennis), and Lee Trujillo (Velda);
nephews and niece, Albert Garcia (Chrystal), John Garcia (Miriam), Eric Kennedy
(Greg Barber), Jacob Trujillo (Melissa), Severiano Trujillo (Yvette), Bianca Sosa
(Jarrett), Nicolas Trujillo, and Diego Trujillo; great-nephews and niece, Paul
Garcia, Miri Garcia, Luke Garcia, Elijah Garcia, and Jax Moore. While her presence
will be deeply missed, the imprint of her love remains.

Honorary pallbearers are Albert Garcia, John Garcia, Eric Kennedy, Jacob Trujillo,
Severiano Trujillo, Nicolas Trujillo, and Diego Trujillo.

  3. Liz,

We are so sorry for the loss of Kathy.

She sounds like a truly remarkable woman — deep in faith, devoted to her family and students, and someone who made people feel genuinely seen, loved, and valued. The way she poured into others and carried herself with grace clearly left a lasting impact on so many.

It is clear Kathy had a special gift — a deep awareness of others and a quiet kindness that made people feel comfortable, welcomed, and cared for.

That same kindness and awareness is something we have seen in you as well, Liz. You and Kathy share that rare ability to truly see people — not just notice them — and make them feel valued. That is a beautiful gift, and one that leaves a lasting mark.

Gary has known your kindness since 1989, and I came to know it quickly after meeting you in 2001. Through life’s devastating and difficult seasons, as well as the everyday, good, and beautiful moments, you have simply shown up — with compassion, grace, and heart.

We are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. May God surround you with His peace and comfort, and may Kathy rest in the peace of Christ.

    With love,
    Gary, Sheila & Brandan

  4. CandleImageMy hearts goes out to Kathy’s family and friends. I pray for God to wipe away your tears and mend your grieving hearts with His love, compassion and grace. I offer you my sympathy and prayers as you mourn the loss of your beloved friend and family member.

  5. CandleImageI had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Trujillo recently. Although I didn’t know Ms. Trujillo long, I could tell that she was truly loved by her family. My last memory of her that will stay engrained in my mind is of her smiling and saying that she felt good, while eating her cheese crackers and juice. I feel blessed to have met her.

  6. CandleImageKathy,

Your beautiful laugh and smile will always be missed. One of the dearest cousins that was more like siblings we grew up with. You nicknamed me “Deedah” and I loved that you had a special name for me. Rest in peace, dear cousin, until the day we all all united. Love and miss you always!
