Katherine R. Halsey

Life's Journey Katharine R. Halsey was born January 28, 1942 in Plainfield, New Jersey to the late Henry Halsey and Josephine Kelso. She departed this life September 7, 2016 making her stay on earth, a glorious 74 years. She was educated in Plainfield, New Jersey where she resided for over 50 years. She worked for General Motors in Linden New Jersey. Her diligence and attention to detail hailed her many awards from General Motors over the 30 years of her employment. She transferred with her job to Shreveport Louisiana in 1995 and resided there until her move to San Antonio, Texas in 2009. Katharine had a strong passion for l dancing and was known as an excellent dancer. She was renowned for having a lean body that could wear any fashion and will be most remembered as a stylish dresser. Katharine was a strong woman of few words, but all-encompassing sage advice. She knew "a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up answer" Proverbs 15:1. Katharine's passion for excellence led her to instill high educational values into each of her children to pursue the highest and best education for a stable future. As a result the tradition has also impacted the grandchildren to pursue higher education. Katharine was united in holy matrimony to Kenneth W. Tanks Sr. and to this union 4 daughters and 1 son were born. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Kelly M. Hill (Royston) of NJ , Kim D. Tanks of GA, Kenneth W. Tanks, Jr (Trashawn) of TX, Karen M. Tanks of GA, Keisha L. Tanks-Blackshire of GA.10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Brothers Henry Halsey, (Bobbie) of CA,, Kenneth Halsey (Barbara) of NJ and Melvin Halsey of NJ and a host of relatives and friends whom she touched throughout her days. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
