Katy Sue Marckwardt, 58 was called home on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 born on February 16,1966 in San Antonio, Texas.
Katy was a rubella baby in the 60’s and was not expected to survive 24 hours. Being born into a family of faith she was baptized at birth in preparation of that prediction.
We serve an amazing God and Katy was spared that fate. This was only the first of many obstacles she faced in her life. Katy comes from a family of very strong Women and has certainly rose above any and all odds that were stacked against her. While having the support of her entire extended family she was blessed with an amazing mom who refused to give up on her.
Her mom settled into a lifelong commitment to Katy’s well-being and guided her into a full, successful and amazing life. This commitment enabled Katy to have a normal life despite being deaf and legally blind and other health issues. Katy grew up to graduate high school, she held a job, lived on her own and had an amazing creative side which enabled her to make some amazing craft projects that she shared with her entire family.
Katy’s success was predominantly due to her mother’s devotion and love for her, Katy’s support was further enhanced with two sets of amazing grandparents, loving aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. She was well loved.
The support that Katy received throughout her life was so strong that she never knew she was different. Katy loved her entire family unconditionally and has left a stamp of her love on her whole family. She will be missed but will forever be an example of strength.
She is preceded in death by her father Melvin Marckwardt. She is survived by her mother, Helen Chandler; sister, Karen Munk, brother- in- law, Jimmie Munk; brother, Bert Marckwardt; nephew, Jason Munk and his wife Tara Munk; niece, Shelby Perault and her husband Matthew Perault; great-nieces, Mia Shepherd, Gracelynn Ymbert and Jaelynn Mendez.
