Kenneth Wayne Curtis Sr., 56, of San Antonio, TX passed away on October 23rd, 2023.

Kenneth was born on July 31st, 1967, the fourth of eight children born to Leroy Curtis Sr. and Delores Curtis in San Antonio, TX. Kenneth accepted Christ at an early age under the late graduated Dr. J. Carlton Allen Sr. at New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

Kenneth attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School, Emerson Middle School, and graduated from Louis W. Fox Academic & Technical High School in 1986 where he played varsity football. Kenneth would follow that up by attending San Antonio College.

Kenneth began working at an early age for Chief grocery store, followed by Lincoln Ice House and Denny’s, before ending up at CPS Energy for over 33 years before retiring on July 31, 2022. He also worked at Freeman Decorating Company over 28 years. Kenneth belonged to I.B.E.W Local Union #500 (CPS Energy) and International Union of Painter & Allied Trades, AFL-CIO District Council 88 Local #653 San Antonio (Freeman Decorating Company).

Kenneth was commonly referred to as Kenny, Red Man, Koolaid, and Sugar Bear by his friends and family. He was always smiling and full of life. He was loved deeply by anyone who knew him. His silly nature could make anyone laugh within moments of meeting him. He loved to work, but enjoyed his family more than anything.

Kenneth met his soul mate, Sheri Ann Daly, and were married on May 5th, 1989. To this union came a son, Kenneth Wayne Curtis Jr. and daughter, Whitney Sheree Curtis. This soon became his world and anyone who knew Kenneth Sr. knew it’s all he spoke about. He was a proud husband and father; however, his love as a family man extended to his mother, five surviving siblings, nephews, and nieces. His heart knew no boundaries for his family and anyone he considered family.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his father, Leroy Curtis Sr. and his brothers, Ronnie Curtis and Joseph Curtis.

Memories of Kenneth Wayne Curtis Sr. will be cherished by his wife, Sheri Ann Curtis; his two children, Kenneth Wayne Curtis Jr. and Whitney Sheree Curtis; his mother, Delores Curtis-Buffin; his siblings, Leroy Curtis Jr., Yvonne Curtis, Rene Smith (Nathan), Carolyn Curtis, Tonya Curtis, step-brother, Clarence Buffin (Sandra); and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
