Linda Lee Mitchell, 71 reunited with her family in heaven Wednesday, May 15, 2024. She was born on November 22, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Julia Mae Whitehurst and Jeremiah Kershaw Carpenter, she was the 7th of 14 children, she attended East High school. As a youth Linda enjoyed working at Churches chicken and socializing with friends, she was a social butterfly who loved to dress nice.
She soon met and married her late husband Larry James Mitchell Sr. As an Air Force wife, her and her kids and husband moved to San Antonio Texas, where she raised her kids on the eastside of town. New to the city she joined the workforce as a CNA at Cresthaven Nursing Home. She later worked as a housekeeping Supervisor at Southeast Baptist Hospital. She enjoyed making new friends and often became a second mother to some neighborhood kids. She enjoyed traveling back to Columbus Ohio visiting family and friends.
After her husband’s passing, she moved back to Columbus Ohio for a few years and decided to move back to Texas to help raise and nurture her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite plant was the Ivy or Ivory as she called it. She was affectionally known as Momma, Grams and GG to all who will miss her dearly. Special thanks to her friend Wellan Hemphill (Rat) who she shared the last years of her life with, Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and friend.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents Jeremiah and Julia Carpenter ,husband, Larry James Mitchell Sr.; her daughters, Belinda Carpenter, Rhea Carpenter Mitchell Stevens: and her eight siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Lolita Mitchell; her son, Oscar Mitchell (Veronica Mitchell): grandchildren, LaToya Prince, Capreace carpenter, Qaeisha Carpenter, Marlin Prince jr.,Timarea Kimbrough, Latrell Mitchell,Timothy Kimbrough Jr. Timareanna Kimbrough, Mikayliah Hunter, great-grandchildren, Z’ariah Brown, ZehDyn Randolf, Breilyn Torres, Reilyn Torres, Amiyah Carpenter, Treihlyn Torres: sisters, Shirley McClendon, Candy Carpenter, Cynthia Carpenter. Tracy Carpenter, Elizabeth Carpenter.
