Life's Journey Lorinza Henderson was born September 22, 1931 in Muldoon, Texas to Welborn Henderson and Almer Fields Henderson. She was one of five children. Lorinza attended the local public schools in Muldoon and in the San Antonio Independent School District. She was baptized into the body of Christ when in her forties and attended The General Assembly Church of the Living God. She believed that Jesus Christ was her Savior. Lorinza was the neighborhood mom, a true village mother, watching out for the neighborhood children and the going's on of the entire block. Her neighbors knew she was keeping a watchful eye out for their homes as well. Being the village mother as she was, it wasn't a surprise when a baby boy, Mickey, was brought to her when he was only weeks old and she raised him until her was about eleven years old. Lorinza was the strength of the family. She was an excellent cook, cooking every day whether she ate of not. You could always go to the freezer for a good meal. Lorinza was also a great gardner. She could plant a rose petal and it would grow! Her yard held such delights as a tangerine trees, chinese plum tree, grapefruit tree and pecan trees along with a variety of peppers which she used in her recipes. Lorinza worked at the Palacio del Rio for many years as a housekeeping supervisor. Fishing was her passion, from digging the bait to the fryig pan. There was nothing like her fresh caught then fried fish. She was proceeded in death by her parents; brothers, Leroy Saunders, Lloyd Saunders, J.D. Williams and her sister, Louise Denby. Lorinza departed this life on May 27, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved daughter, Margaret Henderson-Alexander; grand children, Michael J. Mitchell, Richard D. Mitchell, major A. Mitchell and Whitney L. Davis along with a great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Lorinza was a rose that God wanted in His Kingdom. We will always miss her, she held us together with her love.
