September 19, 1957 ~ April 25, 2025

Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Ludwig “Sean” Smith born September 19, 1957 in Germany passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.
In 1980 Sean met the love of his life Janet, beginning a partnership that spanned 45 years beautiful years, 36 of which they spent as husband and wife.  Together they built a strong, loving family, welcoming their first son, Brian Alexander Smith in 1984 and completing their family with the birth of Brandon Sean Smith in the summer of 1988.
Sean was never one to sit still – a true busy body who found joy in movement, work, and adventure. Fluent in German, he valued meaningful connections and kept a small, close circle of friends.  Sean could often be found waist -deep in a local creek with his boys by his side or cruising the trails on his motorcycle, living life to the fullest and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
A hardworking man to his core, Sean was never afraid to get his hands dirty – whether it was fixing his car, maintaining the family home or caring for the many animals that became part of the Smith household over the years.  He often worked multiple jobs to ensure his family had everything they needed, embodying the belief that actions speak louder than words.  Sean was the man who never called in sick, was never late, and never cut corners – he always said, “if you’re going to do it , do it right the first time.”
In true Sean fashion, he also never missed a chance to remind everyone, half-joking, that his credit score was almost as important as his kids –  a line that always got a laugh, but underneath it, reflected his deep sense of responsibility, pride, and care for his family’s future.
Above all, Sean valued family, loyalty, and hard work.  His life was a living testament ot perseverance, love and integrity.

  1. CandleImageHey Pops!!! It’s me your favorite daughter in law!!! I know you’re at peace now, dont worry about Brian, I’ve got him!!! Love and miss you tons!!!

  2. CandleImageI MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU!
I remember everything! I hope you are not in any pain. I hope you save me a spot.

  3. Your memory is my keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in his keeping I have you in my heart.

    Marriage is forever
I take you from this day forward,
    To love and to miss,
    For better or for worse,
    For emptiness or joyful memory,
    In sadness and in grief,
Even after death has made us part,
I take you as my husband,
In death as I did in life
    Because our love is forever

  4. CandleImageWe didn’t talk about our feelings that much. That was just how we were. But we talk late into the night once. I’ll always remember that night cause we both said I love you and you told me you were proud of me no matter what. I’m glad things didn’t go unsaid. I love you always Dad. Rest easy, you deserve it.

  5. I couldn’t sleep and found a stash of Kit Kats. You would get them for me. You would come home with a bag and a smile as you threw them my direction saying ” look what I got…. Your favorite” ……..I never had the heart to tell you they were your favorite not mine…. Lol so I would just catch them and say yay
