Maggie Rodriguez who was loved by so many passed away peacefully at 84 years old on September 12th, 2026. She spent her whole life caring for the lives of those around her. Often addressed as Maggie you might have known her as Magdalena, or Mom, or even Nana and Nani. Maggie was born on August 24th, 1942 in Floresville, Texas to Minerva “Neva” Perez. She lived a full and joyous life with her beautiful family. Now she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, gratitude, and an unforgettable impact that will always be cherished by her loved ones.

Many appreciated Maggie for her nurturing spirit and loyalty. She carried the responsibility of various roles in her life; sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, friend. There was no hesitation when it came to putting the needs of others before her own. She had this way of making people feel welcomed and seen. Maggie would laugh out loud without a care in the world and had a smile so bright you couldn’t help but smile too. Her presence was a safe place, her home always open to whoever needed somewhere to go, and anyone who sought comfort knew Maggie could provide that familiar warmth.

Those who knew Maggie knew her to have a heart of gold and an unwavering resilience about her. Whatever injury, surgery, or illness she experienced—she endured. Her strength and generosity were precious gifts that will always be missed. Maggie’s most important attribute was her ability to express herself. Something she’d often say is, “the one thing no one could ever take away from me is my voice.” Maggie had no issue voicing what was on her mind, it’s what made her so admirable. Her cleverness and quick-wit were her shield as well as her faith. Being raised during oppressive times it shaped Maggie into the independent woman she was. She always stood up for what she believed in. Including the people she believed in—Maggie fought for those she loved with everything she had.

A devout Catholic, Maggie’s faith was the foundation of her life. She carried her faith with her through every season in life. She found joy in the simple things; whether it was gardening, cooking, doing puzzles, watching movies, or going for a drive—what Maggie loved most was being able to spend time with the people she cared about. If you knew Maggie you know at some point in the day Maggie would call you to check in on you and ask how you are. She never left anyone out and kept everyone in her thoughts and prayers. May her compassionate and cheerful spirit surround us and carry on through the memory of those who love her.

Maggie is survived by her beloved husband, Salvador E. Rodriguez; her daughter, Kelly Rodriguez; and two granddaughters, Sarah and Kathryn Rodriguez. Maggie and Salvador shared 66 amazing years of marriage. Together since November 7th, 1959, they experienced everything any couple could imagine in that time. They grew up together, creating a unique and extraordinary relationship that can only compare to the stories one reads about. From navigating through life as young parents, to moving away from their hometown—they built a life centered around following dreams, family, faith, and love. Those values Maggie lived by will continue through the generations she leaves behind.

Maggie is also survived by her siblings, Marion Garza, Albert Perez, Jesse Perez, Tony Perez, Ray Perez, and Dennis Perez; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her son, Salvador Rodriguez Jr.; her mother Neva Perez; and her siblings, Bako Perez, Robert Perez, Rudy Perez, Nina Perez, Jimmy Perez, and Sylvia Perez.

Maggie’s love for God and family guided her, helping her preserve through every obstacle life threw at her all the way to the end. Though Maggie’s passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, the love she gave so freely will never be lost. Maggie’s memory lives on in her husband, her daughter, her grandchildren, her siblings, and every person whose life she touched. Her strong spirit, kind heart, and abundant love will remain a part of her family’s story forever.
