Born in: La Vernia , Texas
Resided in: San Antonio , Texas

Margaret J. Herring, known as Maude, was born on March 31, 1934, to the late Willie Manuel and Martha Galloway in La Vernia, Tx. She was the sixth of seven children. During her early childhood, the family made the move to San Antonio, Texas where Margaret attended schools in the San Antonio Independent School District.
She later met and married Wyman H. Herring, Sr. who at the time was an Airman in the United States Air Force. To this union four children were born, Antoinette, Wyman Jr., Stephanie, and Michael. The family traveled throughout the United States and Japan. Margaret would always tell stories about the people she met and became friends with during these travels.
Margaret was a long-time member of Tried Stone Baptist Church. She was also a founding member of True Gospel Baptist Church under Rev. L. O. Perry until its merge with Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. W. Smith, her current Pastor. Margaret was a woman of great faith, and she would always say that if you cannot believe in God, you don’t have anything.
After the sudden death of her husband TSgt. Wyman H. Herring, Sr, she went on to provide for her family. During this time, she met Chester A. James. He was a constant companion to her until he died in 2010. Margaret worked for the U.S. Postal Service, where she later retired in 1995.
Margaret loved to take long drives and loved to shop, especially shoe shopping. Her family will miss her great sense of humor, hummingbird cakes, and apple pie. Every morning she loved to have her cup of coffee and extreme hot Cheetos.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Martha Galloway, and her siblings Manuela Galloway, Ollie Mae Swain, Clifton Galloway, Mattie Walker, Samuel Galloway, and James Galloway. Two children Stephanie Herring and Michael Herring as well as two grandchildren Andrea Miller and Tava Herring, Ph.D.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children Antoinette Hughes (Daniel), Wyman Herring, Jr. (Leticia): Daniel Hughes III, SMSgt (Ret) Wyman Herring III (Tiffany), Sean Hughes, Ashley Herring, Eusan Randle, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
