Born in: La Ascencion, Nueva Leon, Mexico
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Maria Coronado McKenzie, 85, passed away July 12, 2024. She was born in La Ascencion, Nueva Leon, Mexico. She was one of 11 children. Maria was a devoted wife (of 42 years) and mother to one son.

Maria was a devout Catholic with a strong faith in Our Lady of San Juan. She was also a people person. You could always count on meeting her with a welcoming smile on her face. She was eager to hear how you and your family were doing or waving at you as you drove by. She loved children, red roses, music and chatting with practically anyone. She was quick to make friends. Neighbors and friends quickly became her extended family. She was loved by many and always kept in touch with friends and coworkers from the years past.

Maria kept busy most of her life. She helped her father at an early age and experienced many different jobs until she joined the San Antonio ISD. After retirement she continued looking for what she could do next. Some of us were fortunate enough to be around in her baking phase, she made delicious pies and cakes.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Freddie McKenzie, Jr.; parents, Valerio and Mercedes Coronado; sisters, Francisca C. Coronado, Elisa Coronado, Clara Coronado, Enriqueta Coronado; brother, Jose Jesus Coronado.

Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy is her son, Juan Constante (Susana Hernandez); sister, Cruz Coronado – Houston, Texas; brothers, Jesus Jose Coronado (Widower) – Houston, Texas, Jose Guadalupe Coronado (Sara) – Harlingen, Texas, Anastacio Coronado (Michelle) – Houston, Texas, Roman Coronado – Harlingen, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; her loving caregiver, Silva Aracely Suarez-Garcia; extended family and friends.
