Maria Carmen O'Briant
August 11, 1957 ~ August 21, 2022
On August 21, 2022 Maria Carmen O’Briant was called to be with the Lord at the age of 65. She passed peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Madrid, Spain to Manuel Las Heras Correa and Carmen Nunez Carrasco. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend.
She was a devoted wife of forty three years to her husband, John, who she loved with all her heart. She was also an amazing mother to her two children Lisa and Robbie. She loved being in the company of her family, her friends, and her beloved wiener dogs, Daisy and Sofi.
Maria Carmen personified “lady”. She was dignified, but always down to earth; classy, but in the most humble way.
She is remembered for her kindness, generosity, and compassion. She loved to read, crochet, garden, and visit daily with her Spanish friends and family by way of the internet. She loved to shop for the ones she cared about.
Maria Carmen is preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Carmen, her sister Dolores, and her brother Manolo.
She is survived by her husband John and her two children Lisa O’Briant and Robert O’Briant.
She loved her friends and family dearly and nothing pleased her more than being in their presence. She will be sorely missed.
Maria Carmen’s celebration of life will be held on Sunday, 4pm September 4, 2022, at Watershed Church, 9315 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78217. The family will receive friends at the Watershed Church one hour prior to the service. As this is a celebration of Maria Carmen’s life, casual church attire is recommended.

Our heartfelt sympathy to John, Lisa & Robbie.
I never got the opportunity to meet this great woman, but I am great friends with here son Rob. To lose a family member so significant to your life is always difficult. I wish nothing but the best for her in the next life, as well as peace for those who mourn her daily. I wish I would have had the opportunity to know her and hear crazy stories about Rob, but sadly I missed out. My deepest sympathies for those who have survived her. She will be dearly missed.
I miss you very much, but forever grateful we became friends
GRACIAS porque no sólo me abriste las puertas de tu casa, sino de tu corazón. Te voy a recordar y a querer Eternamente.
Jonh, Lisa y Robi un fuerte abrazo
We love you ❤
I struggle to find the words that Maria imprinted on my soul. I had the absolute honor of having her bless my life many years ago, and within those years, she remained in my heart and mind with her love, grace, generosity, humor, open embrace… so much beauty of spirit. Saying she will be missed is putting it mildly, but I promise her spirit will live on. She touched my daughter’s life as well and Madeline knows and will continue to know stories of the life and time we had the blessing to share with Maria. My prayers and love are with you all.
John and kids,
You were truly blessed to have a wife and a mother like Maria, Every-time we talked on the phone or came to visit she went out of her way to make us feel like family. She was a special person and you all can take comfort in the fact that she was part of your lives. God Bless you all,
Dear John and kids,
Your wife and mom was a very special person. Every time we talked on the phone or got to visit you she always went out of her way to make us feel welcome and part of the family. She will always have a special place in our hearts. Lisa and Robbie, we know that your sad but you can take comfort in the fact that you were raised by a loving and caring mother and as life progressed, a true friend. John please know we are here for you. God bless you Maria Carmen you are truly loved and missed.
This is Ann O’Briant, wife of Robert O’Briant, John Dennis’s younger brother. We both send our condolences to Maria’s family. I only met her one time not long after Robert and I married, but she was a total delight and such a gracious hostess.
We regret that we will not be able to attend her memorial service as I had already committed to attending a 1st cousin’s 90th birthday celebration on the 4th. Too, one of my daughters-in-law passed away last week, and we have been involved in making her funeral arrangements and consoling my stepson, her husband.
Sadness abounds when these things happen, but passing on to a better life surely surpasses living on this old troubled planet even though it’s so very difficult to bear.
Rest in peace, Maria. You were loved and revered. Ann & Robert
