Maria Ramirez Carmona, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend, entered eternal rest surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. She was born on August 2, 1941, in Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, to her loving parents, Valentin and Vicenta Ramirez. As the youngest of her siblings, Maria shared a deep and special bond with her family and is survived by her beloved older brother, Rodolfo Julian Ramirez, who is 99 years old.

In Rosita, she met and married the love of her life, Leonardo Carmona. Together, they built a beautiful family grounded in faith, love, and unwavering devotion, creating a legacy that will continue through generations.

In 1969, Maria and Leonardo rerooted to San Antonio, Texas, where they raised their children and created a life filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. Maria was especially proud of becoming a United States citizen, a milestone she accomplished through determination and perseverance.

Maria was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life. She found joy in life’s simple blessings — tending to her plants and garden, shopping, and especially cooking delicious meals for her children, grandchildren, and loved ones. Her kitchen and home were always open to family and friends, and she made everyone feel welcome with her gentle spirit and caring heart. She was also loved dearly by her in-laws, who cherished her kindness, warmth, and unwavering devotion to family.

Known for her kindness and sweet nature, Maria had a gift for making friends wherever she went. She was loving, accepting, and never spoke ill of anyone. Her compassion, warmth, and unwavering love touched countless lives and will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Valentin and Vicenta Ramirez; her beloved husband, Leonardo Carmona; her son,“Ponchito” Carmona, who passed away at a very young age and an angel baby, who she never got to hold on Earth.

Maria leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her children, Bertha (Raul) Peña, Gracy (Michael) Potter, Anna (Mario) Martinez, Martha Carmona, Teresa (Daniel) Perez, Ruth (Ruben) Valadez, and Leonard Carmona Jr.; her brother, Rodolfo Julian Ramirez; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Maria’s love, faith, kindness, and beautiful example will live on through all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.

  5. CandleImageTia, thank you for everything. Words cannot explain how grateful I am to say I was your nephew. You always showed love to me. We would have phone conversations, and at the end, we would always end our conversations with “I love you”. Thank you for providing a place for me to stay when I was in college and didn’t have to be commuting back and forth from Uvalde/Crystal City to San Antonio. I will remember the times I would go visit you at the restaurant, I would order my meal, and ALL the times, when it was time for me to pay, the cashier will tell me, your tia paid your bill. I will missed going to your house and talk about my family and your family. I will missed sitting down In the couch, to watch your favorites novelas. I will remember the times going to Mexico for Quinceneras and family birthday parties. Thank you tia. May you RIP!
