Mary Ella Banks Lamkin passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 in San Antonio at the age of 87. Mary was born on May 30, 1922 in Robstown, Texas to Leroy and Lergirtha Banks. She accepted Christ at a very early age, uniting with the local African Methodist Episcopal Church. She later united with the Greater Corinth Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member. She attended public school in Kingsbury, Brusher Community, and Robstown. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, J.B., Adolph, Alvin, and Elmo Banks, and sister, Ceilla Banks Gossip. Mary leaves to cherish her memory four children, Felmo James Hardeman, Helen Rice, Carl and Foster Lamkin; 17 grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Corine Banks, Cliftine Banks and Verdie Lamkin; brother-in-law, Clarence Lamkin, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Meadowlawn Tribute Center, 5415 E. Houston St. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Greater Corinth Baptist Church, 500 S. New Braunfels Ave. Burial will follow at Southern Memorial Cemetery.

  1. I am very sorry for the loss of your dearly beloved one. We suffer because of Adam and Eve disobedience. But through Jesus death we have hope. We yearn for the day when sickness and the aging process is reversed. We yearn to see our dear loved ones again. Jesus promised, the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out -John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29. Also Isaiah 33:24 and Job 33:25.
