Mary Idell Green

Mary Idell Green, a loving and devoted woman of faith, passed away surrounded by the love she so freely gave to others throughout her life. From a young age, Mary was a dedicated follower of Christ, a foundation that guided her actions, her relationships, and her unwavering compassion for those around her.

Mary was known for her warm heart and nurturing spirit. As a homemaker, she found joy in caring for others, beginning early on as a babysitter for neighborhood children. Her home was always a place of comfort, laughter, and kindness. She had a special love for baking, often preparing sweet treats to share with family and friends—an expression of the sweetness she carried within her.

Deeply committed to her church, Mary served faithfully as an usher every Sunday, a role she carried out with pride and dedication. Her presence was a steady and welcoming light to all who entered. She was incredibly loving and caring, with a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room. Mary was also known for her wisdom—always ready with thoughtful advice and words of encouragement, reminding others to never give up, no matter the circumstance.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Laura Porras and Rick James. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, nieces Jacklyn Bowens and Derith D. Green, as well as Godson Shawn Jones.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Oliver Green, and her parents, Jessie Washington and Aida Booker.

Mary Idell Green will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her faith, kindness, and enduring love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
