Michael David Farley, known affectionately by his closest friends as “Mayor Mike”, was born in Sacramento, California May 31, 1955 to parents David Richard Farley and Edna Merlyn Penrose. He passed away the evening of March 6, 2023 at the age of sixty-seven. Michael had more hobbies and interests than just about anybody.  His pride and joy was his beloved dog Brandi, whom he used to cuddle up with each and every day.  He loved spending evenings smoking his favorite cigars and listening to his sizable record collection, which he spent many years putting together.  Michael was an accomplished cook and gardener and could whip up some of the best porterhouse and potatoes west of San Antonio.  When not doing those activities, he enjoyed spending time with his close friends at the cigar lounge, working on computers, building out his stereo system, shopping for yet more vinyl records, talking on his HAM radio, photography, and working on his car.Michael is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his children James Farley and Christine Farley, as well as the innumerable lifelong friends he made in San Antonio.Michael leaves behind a life and legacy that will not soon be forgotten. He will be missed dearly by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Guestbook

  1. My Buddy “Mayor Mike” aka DJ Magic Mike will be sorely missed. I appreciate all the good times and laughs.

Wish we had time for 1 more smoke but until we meet again Sir.

PS: I will save a fritter for you.

My thoughts and prayers for the family and friends.

  2. “Mayor Mike” you were a really good guy. Always had us laughing at Finck’s Cigars in Helotes. You are a character who loved life, and telling stories to all the guys when we hung out smoking a stick. You will be missed, but not forgotten. Loved listening to you LP’s with you in your back yard. Enjoy a stick up there in heaven, and maybe one day down the road all of us will get together up there, and smoke one with you, and share a laugh in the after life. RIP friend.

  3. CandleImageHad many great moments with the Mayor and now they are cherished memories. Mike took no bull from anyone and always had a great comeback. Anyone that imitates him will be sure to do it with that gritty voice that is forever etched in our minds. Mike had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand, he even saved one of our lives (literally). Your stories will be told as legendary tales around Fincks and the GLCC lounge for years to come my friend. Rest in peace and I’ll catch you on the flip side.

  5. CandleImageI will miss you Mayor Mike. I loved how you always never sugar coated anything and got straight to the point. You will definitely be missed but I hope you have some good cigars upstairs. Save a few for me.
