Michael Jonathan Ray

Michael Jonathan Ray passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the age of 76. He was born August 24, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Delores Broads Ray and Jonathan Michael Ray. After high school he joined the United States, Army serving for 13 years. Michael went overseas immediately and onto Ft. Sam Houston where his nursing career began. Transferring to Oahu Hawaii he met Bobbie L. Ray and transferred to Fort Bliss and had a daughter Michael Jana Ray. Finishing his last term in the army back at Ft. Sam Houston and settling in San Antonio, Tx, he later transferred into the Army National Guard for 6 more years. Michael also worked for Kerrville Bus Company 10 years where he traveled and met a lot of interesting people. He went back to his passion for nursing working at Lytle Nursing home where he met Margie Cerda his longtime companion of 21 years. He also worked at Avalon Nursing Home, Texas State Hospital and then settling into private nursing with Ms. Peaches. There he loved working alongside his neighbor and coworker Nanette, Mary Claire and Mari Carmen. Margie Cerda his long-time companion of 21 years shared his passion for being outdoors, fishing or shooting their collection of guns. They enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling and were also member of American Legion # 1954. He was a very caring and loving man who could make you laugh and always had a beautiful smile on his face.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Michael Jana Ray-Benavidez (Calvin Benavidez spouse Rebecca Benavidez granddaughter) Margie Cerda (significant other) and her 3 children, Victoria, Vanessa and, Kevin (Luann Munoz girlfriend Aahliya and Casius Whitlock grandchildren).
