Monique Renee Debine March 21, 1965 – July 1, 2026

With heartfelt sadness and unwavering faith, we announce the passing of Monique Renee Debine, who peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the age of 61.

Monique was born on March 21, 1965, in New York City, New York, to the late Maxine G. Cooper and Benjamin L. Gregg. Affectionately known as “Neekie” by her family and friends, she was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm heart, infectious smile, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She dedicated many years of her professional life to her work as a dental assistant, taking pride in caring for her patients. She also worked for years as a caregiver, going into her patients’ homes to care for them personally. Later, she continued that same passion for serving others while working at Normandy Terrace Nursing Home, lovingly caring for the elderly with compassion, patience, and dignity.

Neekie was the light in every room she walked into. She was truly funny and witty, a certified character. She’d say the most unexpected things and leave you looking at her like, did she really just say that, right before you burst out laughing. She loved to laugh, and she loved making everybody around her laugh right along with her.

She had a pretty voice and a heart for music, and there was no greater honor to her than being asked to sing at a wedding. She took real pride in that, showing up for people on one of the biggest days of their lives and leaving her voice on a memory they’d carry forever. She also had a deep love for movies, always ready to watch a good one, or rewatch the same one two or three times in a day if she really loved it. If you got her to start talking about one, she’d talk your ear off.

Neekie had a special gift in the kitchen. She was known as an amazing cook, and there was nothing she loved more than watching people enjoy a plate of her cooking and hearing just how good it was. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her loved ones, filling every gathering with laughter, storytelling, and unforgettable memories.

Above all else, Neekie’s greatest love was her family. She was a devoted mother to her two beloved daughters and a proud, loving grandmother. Her grandchildren were truly the apple of her eye. She treasured every moment spent with them, and even when distance kept them apart, her love for them never wavered. Her love and unwavering devotion will remain a lasting legacy in their lives.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we rejoice in knowing that Neekie is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her laughter, her voice, her love for her family, and the light she brought into every room will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten by her daughters, Deiadra Gregg, and Jessica Johnson; sister, Angelina (Michael) Burpo; brother, Michael (Kelly) Gregg;

grandchildren, Willie “Tre” Rhodes III, Maxine Gregg, and Ronnie Holmes Jr.; five nieces, one nephew, and a host of aunts, cousins, and friends.

Time of Gathering will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 1:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm at Meadowlawn Funeral Home Chapel.
