It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Montrinique Jayna Dennis, who left us far too soon on July 21, 2025, at the age of 37.
Born on a rare and special day, February 29, 1988, in San Antonio, Texas, Montrinique brought a unique light to the world—one that shone brightly in the lives of everyone she touched.
A proud San Antonio native, Montrinique was fiercely devoted to her family. Her love was steady and strong, expressed in both her actions and her presence. Whether she was caring for her children, supporting her siblings, or simply showing up for family and a friend in need, she gave all of herself—always.
Gifted with extraordinary talent in hair styling and braiding, Montrinique turned a craft into an art, transforming not just appearances but spirits.
She was known for always keeping it real with those around her. Beneath a tough exterior, she was a deeply sweet and thoughtful soul who always meant well and carried the best intentions. She was the kind of woman who told you the truth when you needed it most—and afterward, let you know she was on your side.
Montrinique will be remembered for her strength, her style, her warmth, and the way she made everyone feel like family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unforgettable memories.
She is survived by her children, Simeon Black Jr., Rhalen Anderson, and Rhylen Anderson, parents Carla Dennis, Michael Williams, her loving siblings, Natasha Akutekwe (Obi Akutekwe), Makala Dennis, Etravious Keno Williams, and a host of relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
I taught Rhalen and Rhylen also taught Simeon at Sw Prep. Enjoyed every minute and to know that Ms. Montrinique was the most amazing and Interactive mom when it came to her children. It saddens me to know that Rhalen was also so cute and looked up to her mom on a day to day basis. My best regards are with the Dennis family and all those who was surrounded by Ms Montrinique’s love. Please reach out if I can help in any sort of way. Love you Rhalen, Rhylen and Simeon.
