Muriel R. Welch, SBG

Muriel Ruth Frye Welch, 92, went to be with her Savior on November 28th in San Antonio.

Muriel was born in Gladwin, MI on August 12, 1931 to Dewey and Ruth Frye. After graduating from Sexton High School, she pursued her love of sports at Michigan State College pursuing gymnastics and participating on the college women’s softball team. After being selected on the Olympic gymnastics team she chose instead to marry the love of her life, Richard D Welch, in 1951. Raising eight children and caring for multiple nieces and nephews, she passed on her spirit of adventure, love of God and helping others. Ministering was her passion whether it be on the frontline of saving babies, street ministry, traipsing the Romanian countryside, or coordinating medical supply vans and clothing ministry to the mountainous regions while ministering there by showing the Jesus movie and the Passion of the Christ everywhere she went.

Muriel is survived by her husband of 72 years, eight children and multiple grand and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and one grandson. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her
