Myrthell Gibbons Jones was born on March 30, 1938, to Arnold Gibbons Sr. and Velma Cunningham Gibbons in San Antonio, TX. She received her formal education in the San Antonio Independent School District attending Booker T. Washington Elementary and Douglass Junior High School.

Myrthell soon entered the workforce. She was employed as a transportation specialist working for the Willow’s Development Center until her retirement in 2007 after 21 years of dedicated service.

Myrthell was introduced to Christ at a young age and was baptized at Mt. Gilead Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Robert Forte Sr. She was a very kind-hearted person who was into fashion and doing what she loved, playing bingo with family and friends. She was very loving and supportive to her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was
the next to the oldest child and helped take care of her younger siblings.

Myrthell was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Velma Gibbons, her daughter Jeannie Cummings, her common-law husband Wilbur Kincheon, her brothers, Wallace Gibbons, Sammie Gibbons, Leroy Gibbons, Arnold Gibbons Jr., and Milton Gibbons.

She leaves to cherish her daughter Taushon Jones, grandson, David Gibbons Sr. (Temetrius) of Houston, TX, granddaughters LaWanda Gibbons, Desalyn Jones, great-granddaughters, LaTroya King, LaTrenda King (Nica), great-grandsons, Kermaine Price, Andre S. Gibbons (Anne) stationed in England, David Gibbons Jr., Xavier Gibbons, great-great grandsons, Donteyvin Adams, Dezmond Adams,
Sir Johnson, Braeden Gibbons and Brycen Gibbons. Her brother, Joe Louis Gibbons Sr. (Marie) of Dallas, TX, sister Evelyn Henry, sister-in-law Cora “Jeannine” Gibbons of San Antonio, TX and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
