Oscar Cortez Pena passed away on May 20, 2024, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 69. He was born on February 20, 1955, in Cloete Coahuila Mexico.

Oscar was a man of simple means, always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He worked tirelessly, often juggling multiple jobs simultaneously. In his younger years, he was a skilled pool player, competing in leagues across San Antonio. He found joy in the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him unconditional love and endless smiles. Oscar also cherished long drives around San Antonio and neighboring cities, seeking solace in the beauty of parks and lakes. He loved gathering with loved ones at The Mug, where many birthdays and celebrations were shared.

He is survived by his sisters Yolanda, Rosalva, Blanca, Brenda, brothers Arturo, Juan, Enrique, Jorge, Ray, his daughter Lucinda, son Eric, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Oscar was preceded in death by his father Pedro, mother Cirila, brother Pedro Jr, sister Lucy, and son Oscar Dewayne.

A service to honor and celebrate Oscar’s life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Meadowlawn  Funeral Home. A viewing will be held at 9 am, with the chapel service at 10 am.

Oscar will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his hard work, generosity, and love for his family. May his soul rest in peace.
