Pamela (Pam) Jean Calhoun, Maj, USAF (Ret)

8 May 1955 – 17 August 2026

Pam Calhoun went home to be with the Lord on 17 August, 2026, at the age of 71. She was born on 8 May, 1955 to Gregory George and Mary Evelyn George. She was later adopted and raised by Sara Lockett in East St. Louis, IL. Pam was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Lockett.

She is survived by her husband (Jimmie) of 49 years, children, Nicole Calhoun, and Michael Calhoun (Jenn); 2 siblings, Angela Dixon and Henry L. Lockett; Grandchildren: Leona, Fallon, and Lottie; Nephew and Nieces: Henry L. Lockett Jr., Alexis (Luis), Aaliyah and Aaniyah, and the best Sister-in-Law in the entire world, Mauri Calhoun.

She met her husband Jimmie at St. Louis University (SLU) where she received a B.A. in Business in 1977. Her husband not wanting to take any chances of losing her, married her that very same day. Upon graduating from SLU and getting married, she joined the U.S. Air Force as a 2nd Lt. She later received her Master’s degree from the University of the Philippines. She had numerous assignments and awards during her stellar career.  As a Budget, Auditor, and Cost Analysis officer, her assignments included Wright-Patterson AFB, RAF Upper Heyford (England), Clark AB (Philippines), Randolph AFB, and McClellan AFB. She retired from the Air Force in 1997, and continued her service as an AF wife. Upon returning to San Antonio, she worked in the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Budget department. She enjoyed the opportunity to have an impact in the health and wellness of the citizens of San Antonio.

Pam was a devoted Catholic, teaching Sunday schools at various assignments. But her special love was her two children. She handled all the travel logistics, provided first aid to all their injuries along with being the nutritional specialist and their sports mental health performance coach. While she was excited to become a grandmother, however, she was robbed of the full experience of being a grandma due to being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She battled this awful disease for 14 years.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 5-8 pm with a Rosary to be held from 6:00-7:00pm at Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 5611 E. Houston St. Funeral Service will be conducted at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, 1107 SE Loop 410, San Antonio, TX.
