Patricia was brought up in a Christian home as a child she attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey . After completing high school in 1971, at New Brunswick High School, New Brunswick, New Jersey. She worked as a dietary aide at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey. Later, she started working temporarily which led to permanent employment at Rutgers University, Office of financial aid, New Brunswick, New Jersey. She retired in 2014, after thirty four years of service.
On January 30,1971, she married her high school sweetheart Huey C McCutchen Jr. Together they brought 3 children into this world and were blessed to have gained a 4th child. Patricia loved her children and her family.
She was the strongest person you would ever meet. You would never know if she had stress or anger; she hid it so well. Never wanting to alarm her family and friends.
If you needed anything she would give you her last. If you were a friend, she made you a part of her family. She loved the Lord. She made sure to pray every night and ask God to bless her family and provide a safe place for them. She enjoyed listening to her favorite songs, dancing and being around family. At times; she would dance and tell her daughter’s they were jealous of how she could move.
She loved to cook and when she did, you blink your eyes and it was done. I’ve never known anyone to make fried chicken as fast as she did. In “Pat’s Kitchen” as she would call it.
Patricia was a part time comedian. At least so it would seem. She would say some of the funniest things. None of the children had their own names. She would double names like: Kim-Swaynetta; Sarah-Swaynetta; Gin-Ciera etc… She had several signature sayings like; Oh Lordt…Life is short…What the freak…and our all time favorite was “Alright then”; which meant the conversation was done; and it was time to hang up the phone.
Patricia had a contagious smile and when she laughed, her high cheek bones would light up a room. To know her was to love her!
On March 21, 2022, she departed this life, after battling cancer. She held her ground. She even knocked cancer into remission at one point. Patricia’s fight is over; no more pain; no more worrying. She is in the hands of the Lord now. Where she longed to be reunited with her parents; (Modear & Daddy/Pop-Pop).
