Patsy A. Smolka

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend, Patsy A. Smolka, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the age of 71. She was born on December 27, 1952 to the late parents: Theodore and Ruth Mahar in Floresville, Texas.

On June 12, 1971, Patsy married the love of her life, Melvin Smolka. The two shared a wonderful union of 53 years, and raised their only two sons together.

Aside from being a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, Patsy had several hobbies which included creating floral arrangements, with a particular fondness for yellow roses, delicately hand-painting pottery, and her commitment to traveling to her favorite destinations: New Mexico, and the coast, where she reflected her love for history and culture.

Patsy will be remembered as a passionate artist, her kindness, and her love for all. She will be deeply missed by those who were dear to her.

Patsy was greeted in heaven by her parents.

She leaves behind her legacy to her beloved husband, Melvin Smolka, her sons: Anthony Smolka (Stacy), and Jason Smolka (Brandi), her grandchildren: Derek Smolka (Wendy), Jamison Smolka (Alyssa), Ashton Smolka (Lezli), Carson Smolka, and Corbin Smolka, all whom affectionately called her “GaGa”, her great-grandchildren: Kaleigh, Haven, Brooklyn, Alejandra, and Channing; her siblings: Theodore “Ted” Mahar, James “Jimmy Mahar”, Margaret “Mickey” Meith, and Rita Brown; loving nieces, nephews, and numerous other close relatives and friends.
