Ramona “Mona” Ann Huffman Weil went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 13, 2023. She was born December 11, 1936 in Wautoma, Wisconsin to Elver Grimm and Kathleen Good. Mona, as she was lovingly called, was the oldest of six children. She was raised on a farm in Wisconsin where she attended elementary in a one room classroom. Mona attended Waushara County Teachers College for two years and taught in the same elementary school she had attended as a child.
Mona met George Huffman, from rival school Wild Rose, her junior year in high school. Later when he enlisted in the Air Force, he was stationed at Chicksands AFB in England and she followed by way of a long ship voyage. They were married in England where their first two children David and Mary were born. They traveled the world together and later in Hawaii had two more children Brian and Darrin. They were together thirty-six years. Mona later met and married Richard Weil a lawyer and Balcones Heights judge. Together, they were members of Colonial Hills United Methodist Church where she helped to develop and teach Godly Play, sang in the choir, served on Emmaus teams and as a Stephen Minister, and facilitated an adult Bible study.
Ramona was an avid reader, working at the Great Exchange book store for over 20 years, where she could “read for free and talk books all day”. She also enjoyed many years in a book club with close friends. Ramona was a charter member and served as President (’87-’88) for the Assistance League of San Antonio, where she developed and helped implement projects benefiting children of San Antonio. She had an ability to see worth in everyone and everything God created and always loved helping anyone in need.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Becky) Huffman, Mary (Dan) Delasantos, Brian (Yvette) Huffman and Darrin Huffman; step-children, Marsha (Steve) Williams, Richard “Grady” (Elizabeth) Weil II and Melinda; 10 grandchildren/6 step-grandchildren; Siblings, Elver Jr. “Rusty” (Sue) Grimm and Jeff (Kelly) Grimm; fur baby, Dandy; extended family and life-long friends.

Mona was a wonderful women and I am honored to have called her my mother-in-law. She never forgot a special occasion and always made sure Mary and i along with our children Kim & Kimo received a card on our Birthday and holidays. She will be deeply missed and I know she looks in over us from above.
We were so lucky to have Mona in our life. My two boys adored her and she was always so funny and nice to talk to. We will miss her and wish all the Huffman family the best.
When I joined Assistance League of San Antonio in 2013, I was fortunate enough to work with Mona on the second Saturday Thrift Store shift. Always positive, always caring, Mona immediately made me feel welcomed and valued. After Mona was no longer as active in the chapter, she kept in touch with cards and notes of encouragement! When I was elected to serve on the board and later as board president, Mona was one of the first to send me congratulations! She will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with my cousins David, Mary, Brian, Darrin.
She will be missed but the memories will always be with you all.
