A Time to be Born: April 15, 1954 in Manhattan, NY.
Randy was born to the late Edna Grace and Carroll Morton.
He was the first born and had two sisters. He was preceded
in death by his sister, Cheryl Ingram.
A Time to Plant: Randy grew up in the projects in Harlem,
New York City, NY. During his teenage years, he left New
York to stay with his Uncle Tim & Aunt Clarice Grace & family,
where he finished high school in South Dakota in 1974.
A Time for War: Randy joined the Marine Corps on
December 1, 1975 where he was stationed in Kansas City,
MO and then transferred to Camp LeJeune. He received
training in Basic Auto Mechanics, Fuel & Electric Systems. He
was honorably discharged from the Marines on December
14, 1979.
A Time to Love: Randy married Geri Gripper on July 29,
1978. From this union, two sons were born: Rashad Morton
and Shaun Morton. Family was an important part of his life;
he had a special bond with both of his sons whom he was
very proud of the men they have become.
A Time to Worship: Randy knew Jesus Christ as his Lord
and Savior. He was a. Christ-Follower of the Now Word
Covenant Church Family and joined the Helps Ministry and
worshipped with the Band of Brothers.
A Time to Work: Randy worked hard to support his family.
He was an Owner-Operator Truck driver for over 30 years
and traveled all over several states. He also took a short
break from driving to assist his son Rashad with the “Morton
Barbecue Food Truck” business.
A Time to Play: As a youth and early teenage years, Randy
was involved in various youth sports. He loved being outside
riding his 10 speed bike and speed skating in the streets. As
an adult during his free time he loved watching Nascar
Racing, listening to Jazz, and of course, barbecuing . Randy
was very outspoken and also loved studying the stock market,
trading, and teaching others what he learned.
A Time to Die: After many years fighting cancer, Randy
transitioned peacefully at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital in
San Antonio, TX on February 10, 2022 and is now resting
with our Lord and Savior.
A Time to Mourn: We do not mourn like those who have no
hope, for we have great hope in Jesus Christ and his second
coming. We rejoice and celebrate the life and legacy of
Randy Morton. The blessings that were upon his life will
continue with: his loving wife, Geri Morton, sister, Yvette
Morton, children, Rashad Morton and Shaun Morton, grand
children, Aubriana Morton, Makayla Morton and Havana
Morton; great grand-children, Za’khariean McCounly. In
addition, he leaves an Aunt, numerous nieces, nephews,
cousins, friends and extended family members and the Now
Word Covenant Church family, along with those in the Body
of Christ that he connected with.
God has been good to us as we continue to walk by faith &
not by sight!
