Richard Mansfield Vorhes, 85, passed from this life on March 22, 2008. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, and his son Jim. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Deane White of San Antonio; son Joe Vorhes and wife Barbara of Hunt, TX; son Willie Vorhes of Lakehills, TX; daughter-in law, Nan Vorhes of San Antonio; grandchildren: David White and wife Sandra of McQueeny, TX; Steven White and wife Brandy of Wimberley, TX; and Shawna Vorhes of San Antonio; 4 great grandchildren: Tyler, Hunter, Charley, and Jack White. A graveside service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on April 1 at 11:30am, with a memorial at 1:00pm at the Community of Christ, 11910 Vance Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Outreach International at 129 West Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64050 (www.outreach- international.org )or a charity of your choice.

My world will feel different with him not in it. He has been a part of my life for 40 years since I first met him at Kelly AFB. Even when we were not in touch, he was always special to me. I’m sad, but he wouldn’t want me to be. God Bless you, my friend. Thanks for your friendship and wisdom.
