Mr.Robert Winthrop Blanton was born August 1, 1938, in New Lima, OK, to Mr. Alfred Blanton and Ms.Lillian Dunlap. He Attended Wewoka High School through 11th Grade and recieved his GED. Mr. Blanton then followed his dream and joined the US Navy at the young age of 17 in the spring of 1955. He excelled in every endeavor pursued. He held the following positions over the course of his 23 years 7 months serving his country. Chief Master-at-Arms and Assistant Chief Master-at-Arms. He also served as a traffic Court Judge at Chasefield Naval Air Station in Beeville, TX. When Mr. Blanton retired on April 30, 1981, he retired as the Chief Master-at-Arms on the USS Mt. Hood. His education speaks of his passion for protecting and serving. He attended the San Diego Police Academy where he graduated with a 3.6 GPA and #16 in his class of 42 students in December 1967. Mr. Blanton also graduated from a Fire Fighter Instructor School in 1970. He attended several FBI sponsored courses in Law Enforcement Specialist. He had Leadership and Management education and attended Armed Forces police School in which he graduated February 1978.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Ex-Wife Delores Blanton, mother of Robert L. Blanton, Janice Blanton, and Philip Blanton. Ex-Wife Anna Blanton Terrell, mother of his twin sons, Robert W. Blanton J.R., and Reginald W. Blanton and stepchildren Andre Bios and Rebecca Buhrig. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
