Robert James Carter was born June 10, 1933 to Sam and Sewilla Carter in Seguin, Texas. Robert attended the public schools in the area including Ball High School. As a young adult he moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where he worked at the Pig Stand. In 1955 he moved to San Antonio, Texas and continued to work for the Pig Stand for ten years. Robert later worked for the City of San Antonio where he retired after twenty eight years of faithful service. When Robert moved to San Antonio, he met, fell in love and married Doris Fields and they had six adorable children. Robert was a dedicated family man. He loved to fish and bar-b-que for family and friends. Robert was fondly known as "Blood" among his family and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Sewilla Carter; brother, Carl; son's, Robert and David Carter along with uncles and aunts. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Doris Mae Carter, known to him as "Sweetie"; daughters, Lavern Buffin and Darlene Carter; sons, Larry Carter(Darlene), Howard Buffin (Rita); son-in-law, Ronald Smith; brothers-in-law, Howard Field and Leroy Cunningham; seven grandchildlren, Leslie L. Buffin, Maylan Buffin, Howard Postelle, La'Kesha Buffin, Leonard Carter, Valerie Carter and Christopher Bean along with twelve great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. "Really Gonna Miss You!! To My Loving Husband No words can describe all the grief and pain I feel. I'd give all I have just to see you again but you are with the angels and for now I'll be waiting until we meet again dear, beside heaven's gate. I will truly miss you. I enjoyed the fifty six years we shared together as one.
