Robert S. Polk

Robert Samuel Polk was born September 26, 1929 in Luther, Oklahoma to H.K. and Verona Polk. Robert accepted Christ at an early age. He attended public schools in the area and later received his Associates Degree in welding and plumbing from St. Phillips College in San Antonio, Texas. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 13 while in Luther, Oklahoma and maintained his membership while in San Antonio. Robert served his country well by enlisting and retiring from the U.S. Air Force. He served from 1951 until 1971 and fought in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He later worked for the University Hospital system for thirteen years. In his recreational time he enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, singing and dancing. He was united in marriage to Bernice Holt Polk for thirty five years, and they were the parents of one son, Patrick Polk. In 1992 he was united in marriage to Sandra Mackey, they shared sixteen wonderful years together. He captured her heart while serenading her. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bernice, his sister Bonella Polk; two brothers, Levenral Polk and Selester Polk-McCauley. Robert leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Sandra Polk; son, Patrick Polk; daughter, Shinese Stevenson; step-sons, Terrance Mackey(Kim) of Houston, Texas, Christopher Mackey and Joseph Whitley (Shamara) of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Alvis B. Polk, Sr. (Sherrie) of Spencer, Oklahoma; Mother-in-law, Barbara Rice (Henry); Sister-in-law, Sharon Mackey all of San Antonio; Brother-in-law, Robert Mackey (Gloria) of Buena Park, Ca.; seven grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
