Born in:
Kingsville, Texas
Resided in:
San Antonio, Texas
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and dear friend, Roberto (Robert) Olivarez Jr., entered eternal rest on May 6th in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his loving family, just shy of his 67th birthday. Robert was born to his late parents: Rufina and Roberto Olivarez Sr. in Kingsville, Texas. He was raised and spent the majority of his life in Bishop, Texas.
Robert, known as “Bobby” in his younger days, had a loving spirit, and met his best friend and partner in life, Nilda Lerma in Kingsville, Texas, where they fell in love and affectionately called each other “Kid”. They married in October of 1977, and raised a family of five together.
Robert proudly worked in the automotive industry as an autobody technician, mastering his craft for many years, and passing along the skills to his only son, until he retired. In his spare time, if he wasn’t watching the Cowboys, Robert enjoyed road trips in the mountains of Colorado, cruising on his Harley, catching fish (or not!) at the coast, finding vintage treasures, tilting a pinball game, coaching sports, honoring the Lord through his faith, and spending time with grandkids, who all knew him as “PoPo”.
Robert is greeted in heaven by his parents: Roberto & Rufina Olivarez, his sister: Belinda Olivarez-Calderon, his granddaughter: Cora, and his beloved in-laws: Apolinar & Irma Lerma.
Robert’s absence is heartfelt and his physical presence will forever be missed.
He leaves to cherish in his memory: his beautiful wife of 46 wonderful years, Nilda Olivarez, his children: April Michelle Olivarez, Kimberly Marie Mazur (Jason), Rebekah Anne Reyes (Omar), Angelika Raquel Olivarez, and Roberto Olivarez III; his grandchildren: Reanna, Lauren, Marco, Alynah, Gwenyth, Cori, Guiliana, Sophia, and Mabel; his great-grandchildren: Romeo, Julian, and Joel. His furry best friend and companion “Lucky,” as well as a multitude of in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces, and close friends who are all honored to have Robert in their heart.
We will have a prayer service in recognition and celebration of Robert’s life and spirit on Monday, May 13th, 2024 at 8:15am at Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 5611 East Houston Street. A Funeral Procession will follow, departing at 9:30am for a 10:00am Resurrection of the Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 617 South Santa Rosa Avenue. Burial will follow at Mission Park South Cemetery, 1700 SE Military Drive.
The family invites everyone to bring a cherished photo to share a memory of their beloved husband and dad by hanging it on a memory tree during the prayer service at Meadowland Funeral Home.
